Samsung Galaxy Beam!

The Samsung Galaxy Beam may look like your average Galaxy smartphone running Android 2.3 Gingerbread (this will change, by the way), but the ace up its sleeve is the pico projector situated at the top of the phone--and capable of beaming photos, videos, presentations, and anything else you want, onto surfaces.

The contents of your phone look best projected in darker atmospheres, and the closer you are to the projecting surface, the sharper your image. The Galaxy Beam projects at a 640 x 360-pixel resolution. Samsung says that the Galaxy Beam's larger 2,000mAh battery will keep movies and other content projecting for about 3 hours straight.

Another thing you should know is that the projecting module offsets your phone by 90 degrees, which means that initially, orientation is a little wonky. Samsung is working on accessories like stands and cases to help keep beamed images steady.

Samsung boasts that its Beam projects at a brightness level of 15 lumens, whereas other projector phones in the past have topped out at 10 lumens. Projections--including video playback--looked great in our first demo, which took place in a dark room. The LED bulb itself has a life span of about 20,000 hours, so don't expect to have to replace it soon.

Beyond the projector, the phone itself sports a 4-inch WVGA TFT touch screen, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 1GHz dual-core processor. Built-in projectors tend to add a lot of bulk, but the Galaxy Beam measures just 12.5 millimeters (just under 0.5-inch) thick, the typical depth of your average phone.

Daring you to drop it, the Galaxy Beam looks less delicate and more rugged, thanks to its comfortable soft-touch finish and bright yellow trim.

Tottenham Hotspur are still in line for Premier League third-place finish, says coach Harry Redknapp!!!!!!!!

Harry Redknapp believes Tottenham are still clear favourites to finish third in the Premier League despite seeing his team lose for the second time in the space of a week.

Tottenham had opened up an impressive 10-point gap over Arsenal but that now stands at just four points after they followed up their derby defeat to the Gunners with a 3-1 loss to Manchester United at White Hart Lane.
The defeat, which came courtesy of a header from Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young's brace, was harsh on the Londoners, who dominated large parts of the game.
The reality is that, despite gunning for the title for most of the season, Tottenham are now nervously looking over their shoulders at fourth-place Arsenal, and to a lesser extent Chelsea, who trail them by seven points in fifth.
Redknapp's team have tricky games at Everton and Chelsea coming up, but the 65 year-old Spurs coach is still confident that he can finish third and bring Champions League football back to White Hart Lane again next season.
"We're still in pole position. I still fancy us to finish third," Redknapp said. "That 10-point lead has suddenly become four points and we've got some hard games to come. We go to Everton and we've got Chelsea away.
"It's going to be tight but I'd still rather be where we are than Arsenal. We're four points in front and we've still got a big chance.
"I'm looking to finish third, not fourth. I'd be disappointed if we finished fourth. I'd be even more disappointed if we finished fifth!"
Redknapp was stunned to see his team come out of yesterday's game against Sir Alex Ferguson's title hopefuls with nothing after dominating despite the absence of key players like Scott Parker, Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart.
He said: "We played so well first half and to come in 1-0 down, it was unbelievable, really. We dominated the game, did absolutely everything I asked them to do.
"All over the park, I felt we dominated the game. Then we start the second half in exactly the same fashion.
"We get on top again and then we don't pick up from a throw-in and we find ourselves two down when they've done nothing.
"They were there to be beaten. I've not seen Alex on his feet as much for years, it wasn't going their way, but that's how it goes sometimes in football."

Samsung Galaxy Tab 620!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a number of Galaxy Tabs in the market at the moment. And in a few months, there are likely to be more. The original Galaxy Tab, the 7-inch device that launched last year, can still be found if you search in earnest. Then, there is Galaxy Tab 750 with 10.1-inch screen, Galaxy Tab 730 with 8.9-inch screen and Galaxy Tab 680 with 7.7-inch SuperAMOLED screen.

The list is completed by Galaxy Tab 620, which we are reviewing today. Samsung says consumers need so many different Tabs to choose from "because no one size fits all", a subtle dig at the fruity company that sells just one tablet - iPad.

The classic argument on quality vs quantity aside, today we are going to find out what Tab 620 - called Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus in international market - packs in its slender and sleek body. Read on to know if this is the tablet for you.

Smaller than iPad Ok, this goes without saying. With a screen size of 7 inches, Tab 620 is definitely lot smaller and lighter than iPad or iPad2. This is good as well as bad. Good because the compact frame and a weight of 345 grams makes Tab 620 easier to use on the go or for longer durations. It's more portable. More handy to use. Bad because the smaller screen has disadvantages if you want to browse for longer durations or watch videos on it.

It typical Samsung fashion, Tab 620 is built using lots of glossy plastic. But the design is good. Rounded edges, sides that gracefully slope and a thin aluminum frame around the screen, give Tab 620 a premium finish. The back cover can't be removed, something that is common to almost all tablets nowadays. Slots to load SIM and MicroSD are on the left of the tablet while power button and volume rocker are on the right.

Overall, Tab 620 looks like a smaller replica of Tab 750. However, in terms of core hardware, it is somewhat better than its bigger sibling. Unlike the 1Ghz Tegra 2 processor in Tab 750, Tab 620 has a 1.2Ghz Exynos processor, which in our opinion is better. There is 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with support for up to 32GB micro SD card.

The 7-inch PLS (plane-to-line switching panel) is decent. The resolution of 1024 x 600 is adequate. Viewing angles are good but brightness is somewhat lacking. Though in day-today usage it hardly makes any difference. The primary camera has a 3 mega-pixel sensor while the front camera supports a resolution of 2 mega pixels.

T-Rex's bite was 'three times greater than shark'!

The Tyrannosaurus Rex had the most powerful bite of any creature ever to roam the Earth - up to three-and-a-half times greater than the Great White Shark, according to new research. The dinosaur could bring its jaws together with a remarkable force of up to 57,000 Newtons (13,000 lbs) - four times more than previous estimates.

Its performance surpasses that of all animals, both living and extinct, including today's great white shark, the most terrifying modern day creature which packs a 3,600 pound (1.8 tons) bite. Musculoskeletal biologist Dr Karl Bates said: "Our results show T Rex had an extremely powerful bite making it one of the most dangerous predators to have roamed our planet."

His researchers at Liverpool University made computer models of T Rex's jaw and compared it with similar reconstructions of the skulls of another theropod dinosaur Allosaurus, an alligator and a human. They found it clamped down on is prey with a crushing force up to almost fifty times more than a large African lion (1,235lbs).

Dr Bates said: "Models predict adult T. rex generated sustained bite forces of 35,000 (8,000lbs) to 57,000 Newtons at a single posterior tooth, by far the highest bite forces estimated for any terrestrial animal."

The study published in the Royal Society journal Biology Letters provides the first direct bite predictions and suggests T. rex probably had the most powerful bite of any terrestrial animal ever to have existed.

Results also suggest adult T. rex had a powerful bite in both absolute and relative terms for its body size, and that biting performance increased during growth, allowing it to kill and eat other big dinosaurs that were around at the time.

Dr Bates said: "The larger it grew the more it would have slowed down so its forearms got relatively smaller and its head bigger. "This adds to evidence that it would have hunted and killed beasts that were even bigger than itself such as Triceratops and the armoured dinosaurs, possibly because it needed to prey on bigger animals to sustain itself."

He said the Nile crocodile's bite that has been measured at a force of 5,000 lbs (22,000 Newtons) is the closest living creature to it. Then there is the Great White Shark but comparing a terrestrial animal with an aquatic one is "like chalk and cheese."

His team artificially scaled up the skulls of a human, alligator, a juvenile T Rex and Allosaurus to the size of an adult T Rex. In each case the bite forces increased but not to the level of the fully grown T Rex.

Dr Bates said: "Bite mechanics and feeding behaviour in Tyrannosaurus rex are controversial. Some contend a modest bite mechanically limited T. rex to scavenging, while others argue that high bite forces facilitated a predatory mode of life."

The researchers also found the juvenile T Rex has a relatively weaker bite than the adult suggesting feeding behaviour changed as it grew.

Juveniles possessed a lower, longer snouted skull than adult T. rex. Expansion of the skull with maturity potentially provided greater volume for jaw-closing. Tyrannosaur body proportions changed appreciably during development and biomechanical analyses have provided strong evidenc

"To build on previous methods of analysis we took what we knew about T Rex rom its skeleton and built a computer model that incorporated the major anatomical and physiological factors that determine bite performance.

"We then asked the computer model to produce a bite so we could measure the speed and force of it directly. We compared this to other animals of smaller body mass and also scaled up smaller animals to the size of T rex to compare how powerful it was in relative terms."

Roger Federer expects it to get tougher when he faces Feliciano Lopez!

Roger Federer made a blazing start to his quest for a fifth Dubai Tennis Championship title, brushing aside Michael Llodra 6-0, 7-6 on a packed centre court Tuesday night.

I know the danger of Feliciano,” Federer said. “He’s had a great season. I think he’s ranked within the top 15. That’s a tough second round, right there. I’ve played him, I think, here in the final years ago, so I know he can play well here.

“This is a definitely a good hunting ground for him, so I won’t take anything lightly. [I will] try to play my game again, make sure I focus on my own serve, and then see what I can do on his serve.”

Britain’s Andy Murray laboured to a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory against Michael Berrer in their first round match.

The No 3 seed struggled because of a combination of fine aggressive play from the German and his own inconsistency.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the No 4 seed from France, defeated Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, 7-6, 6-4, and the Czech Republic’s Tomas Berdych, the No 5 seed, beat Benjamin Becker of Germany 6-2, 6-2.

Calling Maradona

Novak Djokovic is planning to invite Diego Maradona, the Al Wasl coach, to one of his matches at the Dubai Tennis Championships. The Serbian world No 1 had spent some time with the Argentine legend when he was in Abu Dhabi for the Mubadala World Tennis Championship and Djokovic wants to meet him again. "Actually I'm going to give him a call," Djokovic said. "Let's see. He usually has practices in the evening with the team. So obviously his scheduling has to be right. Hopefully he can come, maybe even tomorrow."

While Djokovic waits on Maradona, one of the greatest athletes of all-time graced the championships on Monday night. Sergey Bubka, the pole vaulting legend, cheered his son, Sergei, on as he battled Lacko Lukas in a marathon first round match. Back at a tournament where he achieved the biggest success of his tennis career as yet, an upset win over Ivan Ljubicic in the first round last year, Sergei Bubka seemed heading for another appearance in the second round after winning the first set 6-2. He was eventually beaten 16-14 in the deciding third set. Bubka Sr, who broke the pole vault record 35 times, was not in Dubai last year, but made sure he was at the Aviation Club this year to watch his son.
